David Lange: I am a bit concerned about my child reading "Looking For Alaska". I heard horror stories from parents about it. There is smoking, sex, and alcohol mentioned in the book. Can I have my child not read it?

Mr. Hockwater: I can assure you that the book is a valuable resource to students. Yes, it may be explicit at times, but it shows the students how to cope with unfortunate realities. If you wish, I can have your child read a substitute book instead.

Carmen Hola: David, I found this video of the author defending his book. Maybe this will make you feel better? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHMPtYvZ8tM

David Lange: Thanks, Carmen!
